This is a set of ring gear bolt adapters, which allow you to use M12 bolts with 14mm holes in the carrier unit. For example, all ///M differentials have 14mm holes, so you can change the gear ratio from another differential with M12 bolts by using these adapters.
The most common gear ratio change is done on the E46 M3 differential. Those who use the naturally aspirated S54B32 engine are looking for shorter ratios. Aftermarket gear ratio sets are very expensive. A 3.91 ratio from an E32 or E31 can be easily obtained. However, the ring gear has M12 bolt holes and the E46 M3 LSD unit has M14 bolt holes. In this case, these adapters are placed in the 14mm holes to use M12 bolts.
