Forge Motorsport FMTIA3.N Turbo Inlet Adapter for Audi Seat Skoda VW VAG 1.0 TSI

Following the success of the FMINDK30, Forge took the opportunity to revisit the UP GTI and look for improvements to the 1.0 TSI engine's airflow into the turbocharger. Upon investigation, it was observed the stock turbo adaptor was very restrictive and required improvement. Therefore, our highly skilled development team went to work designing a solution to maximise capacity, utilising our CAD system and physical prototypes.

The stock plastic turbo inlet, includes a hollow, ribbed resonance chamber which hinders airflow and reduces intake noise. This stock part has a detrimental effect on engine performance, especially when modified. To get the best results, the chamber was removed allowing us to significantly increase the volume and airflow. The hose design also incorporates a stepped internal area at its join to the turbo housing, to ensure as smooth a transition as possible from the intake pipe into the turbo.

Various designs and materials were tried and tested, until the final product you see here. The FMTIA3 construction is manufactured from reinforced multi-ply silicone, which is more durable than the original plastic pipe, and is unaffected by overheating like other similar products. With its increased capacity and less surface restriction it directs air straight into the turbocharger, allowing for a greater volume of air to be compressed. This can have a positive effect on vehicle acceleration after prolonged deceleration or between gear changes, due to more air being retained in the turbocharger's intake pipework.

An important feature of the FMTIA3 is its compatibility with vehicles equipped with and without the PCV system integrated into the turbo intake. Older engines do not feature the ventilation system from the fuel tank to the elbow. We supply the necessary components to cap off the elbow nozzles if required to install the turbo intake adaptor to the older engine revision. The one-way valve and mating adaptor are also supplied so the elbow can be installed on the more recent revised engine. The FMTIA3 is also compatible with the factory air box; however, for the best performance we recommend using our chassis specific intake systems.

This product is essential for the 1.0 TSI engine optimisation. On both stage one and stage two optimisation, we have consistently seen gains of 3-5bhp, depending on the state of the vehicle’s set up.

This is a simple yet very effective power increasing modification which can be installed with basic tools with a typical install time of approximately 60 minutes. Like all Forge products, a comprehensive instruction manual is included to make installation as easy as possible.

The Forge silicone hoses in this kit have been designed to include an expensive inner liner of high-quality modified silicone, known as Fluorosilicone.

This means the hoses are suitable for use with either modern long-life coolants, OAT coolants or air containing oil mist.
